Covid 19
Description
DescriptionCOVID-19 is an infectious disease, first recognised in China in late 2019 it quickly spread around the world. The New Zealand government introduced measures to stop the spread of the disease in early 2020. This included a 4 stage Covid Alert System.
On 25 March 2020 at 11:59pm, Aotearoa New Zealand moved to Alert Level 4, the highest level of alert, and the whole country went into self-isolation or 'lockdown'. Essential services such as supermarkets, medical and emergency services, and farms, stayed open. Schools, hairdressers, libraries, restaurants, and most other businesses had to close. People were ordered to stay at home in their household ‘bubble’ unless they were visiting essential services or exercising. They were told not to mix with others outside the home, or ‘burst their bubble'.
This collection of items relates to people's personal experiences during the Covid lockdowns in Tasman. What they experienced, and how they coped during the period of isolation.
