Workers at Glenhope

Description

DescriptionA group of workers at Glenhope. Possibly either gold sluicing (gold mining), or more likely, constructing a tunnel or other structure for the Glenhope to Nelson railway line. There are a number of railway sleepers, or large pieces of wood placed vertically, creating a barrier or support, against what appears to be a bank. At the top of the bank is a group of workers with equipment that looks like a concrete mixer. At the side of the photograph is machinery with a number of pipes that could be transporting water to the work site. At the bottom of the bank are two workers, holding the bottom of a tube over another piece of equipment.
