Mr Forsyth was the chairman of the Hall Committee

Other guests at the opening of the hall included the Rev. Mr Blair, who led the prayer of Thanksgiving, the Hon. C. F. Skinner, Minister of Rehabilitation and M.P. for Motueka, Mrs Skinner, Harry Atmore, M.P., and Mrs Atmore, Mr J. Corder, chairman of the Waimea County Council. and Mrs Corder, Mr A. Gould, chairman of the Nelson Harbour Board, Mr A. R. Tuffnell, Mayor of Richmond, and Mrs Tuffnell, Mr and Mrs J. A. Fraser, of Mahana.

In his speech Mr Skinner said the hall would ... "be a real community centre, which could include a Plunket room with rest room, and also a room where a doctor might receive patients. It could fill a very important place in the life of the community. It would also be very valuable as a place where ex-servicemen could meet. There was a very important place in rehabilitation for such buildings as this. ..."
