Receipt of payment for ticket to New Zealand 1836?

Description

DescriptionA handwritten receipt of payment for cabin passage to New Zealand, date 1836(?). Found in the Newport family bible.

The receipt reads "London, 19th Febry, 1836 (?).Received of Mr John B. Wilson the sum of sixty pounds for cabin passage to New Zealand. Po. (or Do.) Ship Sir Eds? _age_". (Possibly The Sir Edward Paget?). There is a signature with what appears to be the name Henry H. Willis, but the company name is illegible. There is a stamp with the words 'One Penny. Draft payable on demand or receipt".

There was a London based shipping company called A Willis Sons and Company, that later became Henry H Willis & Co. in the 1840s. An Arthur Willis, of Willis Gann and Co of London, also sent a number of ships to New Zealand. Arthur was the founding director of the New Zealand Company.
