DescriptionThe picture on the quilt is of my great grandparents (John Robert Burge and Mary Elizabeth Burge (nee Anstice)) and their two children – Archer Edward Burge (my grandfather) and Emily Evangeline Burge. John Robert came to Nelson from the UK with his brother (Edward Cook Burge) and both worked on the Nelson railway. John Robert settled with his family in Belgrove. My grandfather moved to and lived in Wellington where he had his own family.
